For Your Information: Many consumers, seeking
assistance with debt management, often turn to credit counseling to help.
Many companies advertise that they can erase bad credit information, but
in truth, negative credit information cannot legally be removed from your
credit report. The Better Business Bureau advises consumers to read their
rights before signing any contracts. Be aware of companies that do not
tell you your legal rights, want you to pay for services before they are
provided, advise you to dipsute all information in your credit report,
or take any action that seems legally questionable. Contact the Better
Business Bureau at www.bbb.org
or contact National Foundation for Credit Counseling at www.nfcc.org.
